Book-Report on "The White Dove"

I just read "The White Dove" which is a Lamplighter publication of this old book. It was really fascinating. In fact, I couldn't take my eyes off of it & read it straight through. Have you ever done that? Well this was my first time and it feels really satisfying to finish a book. You see, uncle Kenny always teases me for beginning a book & not finishing it. (I usually only get about halfway) Alright, enough of that, I'll just begin writing about the book now :)

The "White Dove" begins with a knight named Theobald who lives in the castle of Falkenbourg (now there's a hard name to pronounce) with his wife Othilia and his only child, Agnes, about eight years of age. They had lived happily for many years until the incident which I will describe. It began when Othilia & her daughter were sitting in a garden one fine day and then suddenly a small white dove flew in as if terrified. Well they ended up keeping the small bird and eventually tamed it so well that it would come to little Agnes whenever it was called. Agnes was delighted with her loyal companion and the two became fast friends. Then one day a widow, by the name of Rosalind, came to the castle with her daughter Emma in great distress. She told Theobald of how some cruel men were threatening to take her estates. Theobald drove them away. While he was gone, Emma & Agnes had the most joyful times. Theobald returned and told Rosalind that her foes had renounced their claims and would not come near her again. Rosalind was overjoyed at the news and thanked the knight greatly. Unfortunately Emma and Agnes were weeping bitterly and had it the hardest when parting. So that Emma would not forget her, Agnes gave her the white dove as a token. Some time after their parting, two pilgrims came to the castle where Rosalind & her daughter resided. They told of their journeys and how they were traveling home from the holy lands. Upon leaving the next day, both inquired of the mistress as to if she knew the knight Theobald & where he lived. She told them & they left for Falkenbourg. To help show them the way, she sent with them one of her servants. Interestingly, both of the pilgrims began conversing in Italian thinking that the boy only knew the German language. But it was not so. He himself was Italian and had been taken in by his mistress's husband before his death. Although he knew German well, he remembered his native tongue and understood what they were saying. Upon hearing their conversation, the boy was terrified and knew he must return and tell his mistress. You see, they were plotting to kill Theobald and massacre his castle. (This is why I couldn't stop reading it) Anyway, I think I'll let you finish the book and I'll finish this post with a happy, cute, short & sweet Goodbye.

P.S. - I think it's a great book!

For all the funniest people out there... (I expect you to tell all your friends!)

When the third-grade class went on a field trip to the circus, two boys broke away from the rest of the group and decided to look around. Before long, they came upon a trailer with a sign that read, "The Smallest Man in the World." Knocking on the door, they were astonished when a man nearly eight feet tall appeared on the doorstep.

"Isn't this the home of the World's Smallest Man?" asked the first boy.

"Yes," replied the giant. "But I'm afraid you caught me on my day off."

"Ha Ha Ha Ha!" Isn't that just hilarious!!!

So, What Have I Been Up Too???

Well let me tell ya!

First of all, I've been doing Omnibus with some of my cousin's and Uncle (teacher). Also, I've been trying to do apologetics when there's time (although that should be first). And I have been trying to listen to my iPod more. Working outside is something else. And... piano along with lessons from Alex on the mandoline. Hmmm... What else... Ah! I know! Writing class. I still gotta do the homework for that. Laundry for family is another thing. And of course, I have to find time to eat something here and there if ya know what I mean! Ha! Sooo... I will see you at Speech Club or somewhere else in the world at one point or another. Oh! Yes, I have to work on my duo that I'm doing with Kaila. That is a tough one. Okay... Goodbye Now.

To the Boys of America...

"Of course what we have a right to expect from the American boy is that he shall turn out to be a good American man. Now, the chances are strong that he wouldn't be much of a man unless he is a good deal of a boy. He must not be a coward or a weakling, a bully, a shirk or a prig. He must work hard and play hard. He must be clean-minded and clean-lived, and able to hold his own under all circumstances and against all comers. It is only on these conditions that he will grow into the kind of man of whom American can really be proud."

Who Do We Think We Are?

Who do we think we are?

We go on with life as if it revolves around us. As if we're the ones who should and must have everything there is. More and more junk. Do we really need it? Are we man-focused or are we God-focused? Are we looking at the creation or the Creator? The gifts or the Giver?

Thanksgiving has brought these questions to my mind and maybe yours too. Who do we think we are??? I ask you that. Our lives are but of little importance to the one who gave life. The sustainer of the universe. The King above all kings.

We go on with our busy lives as if they are of importance. As if all our stuff was to die for.

Who Do We Think We Are?

We must ask ourselves what and who is most important in our day to day lives. Thanksgiving has showed me that this year. That nothing else matters when God is our greatest desire and when he is our greatest focus. When we realize how insignificant we really are then, and only then, can we see how great is our God.

"For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." -Rom. 11:36

I haven't posted for a considerable amount of time and I just thought it fitting that I should.

Daily Joke - I'm Fine

I'm fine, I'm fine.
There's nothing whatever the matter with me,
I'm just as healthy as I can be.
I have arthritis in both of my knees,
And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze.
My pulse is weak and my blood is thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

My teeth eventually will have to come out,
And I can't hear a word unless you shout.
I'm overweight and I can't get thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

Arch supports I have for my feet,
Or I wouldn't be able to walk down the street.
Sleep is denied me every night,
And every morning I'm really a sight.
My memory is bad and my head's a-spin,
And I practically live on aspirin.
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

The moral is, as this tale unfolds,
That for you and me who are growing old,
It's better to say, "I'm fine," with a grin
Than to let people know the shape we're in!

Winter is Coming & Grass is Growing -

Yes, winter is almost here! It's a joy and a curse. You see, snow is a joy to me but a curse to other people. No, actually it's a lot of fun for younger people I guess you could say (like me) but is really cold messy for older & more mature individuals. Right? 'Cause that's how it is in my world anyway. Yes, I believe so.

Okay then, farewell!

- (I hope this post isn't too confusing. Hmmm...)

Question of the Week -

What is your favorite Color???

-Mine is Dark Blue

The Cannon Shooting Off -

Here's a video of when the cannon was shot over by Eagle Point.

The First time it went off I was so shocked by the sound that the camera shook as you will see in the video up above.

Eventually I got used to hearing though :)

The Cannon -

Here's a snapshot of it firing.
(When I get back tonight I'll post the video Ok?)

Pictures...

I had some fun with pictures and just thought I'd share some with ya'll.
(Partly because I wanted to show ya that I can make pictures kinda neat just like my lil' sister :) Table Rock Mountain.
Here is Mercy, Emma, and Grandpa-Ken just before going to Speech Club. Here's Aaron. Can you find him?
This is a cat. A very lazy cat that is.
A Flower. A Plant.
Whew! Those last two were hard (sorta, not really).

Sermons, Videos, and Music...

80 GB iPod.
This is my iPod (and fold-over case). I just wanted to say how much I appreciate it. It's wonderful! I listen to sermons/lectures on it all the time. Watch videos when I have the time. And listen to music some times.
Just to name a few of the artists of sermons/lectures are Greg Bahnsen, R.C. Sproul, John Piper, Paul Washer, George Grant, Gary DeMar, etc...
Some of the videos include the Moody (science) videos, more Sermons, theology videos, health videos, the Gospel of John, and other movies...
Music? Well, sometimes I listen to classical when I do my math or reading because it's somewhat soothing. Occasionally, Casting Crowns or bagpipe music. So I'm not to big a fan of alot of music (all the time) as you can see.

Ok then, I'll close with that. God Bless.

A (Just for Fun) Post!

I just trimmed Winnie again because he was starting to get a little long around the edges.
Well, maybe it was growing on top some too :-)
Who's he looking at?
He wanted it like Grandpa Great so that's what I did.
Here's a picture of Grandpa. He was the best ever!
I hope I can lead a life just like him, that is pleasing to God.

Wasp Hive (Nest)

I don't really know what to post so I thought I'll just say that I found this wasp nest on the ground and thought it might be of some interest to some one out there in the wide, wide, world.
Observe the picture and find out what's...
- wrong with it
- interesting
- the most fascinating thing about it
(number one and two seem to be the same huh?)
I don't know. Maybe you could find out...

The Lake Picture

Here's a picture (well several pictures) that I took at the lake when we went camping.

13th Rule of Civility -

KILL no vermin as fleas, lice, ticks etc. in the sight of others; if you see any filth or thick spittle, put your foot dexteriously upon it; if it be upon the clothes of your companions, put it off privately; and if it be upon your own clothes, return thanks to him who puts it off.

Who Am I? Read and Find Out...

Hello, my name is David Anderson Kruse and I have the privilege of sharing with you a little about my crazy life.

1) My fantastic history –
It all began a looong time ago in a far away place called Grants Pass OR. The date was something like Aug.27, 1992 where a scruffy headed first born baby boy was born. That lil' guy was me. Growing up in a Godly, Christian, and happy family was wonderful! Unforgettable memories, 2 outstanding parents, together with 7 playful brothers and sisters make a great first-rate family! In all, I love God and the family that He has blessed me with.

2) Who I am today –
Today, some of my interests are piano, gardening, speech club, school, reading, and working hard. I especially enjoy studying theology (which is studying God). The more I study, the more I want to learn about my creator. That is why I love apologetics so much. I want to learn as much as I can now so that later in life I will be able to teach my children about God and who He is.

3) What my various goals and dreams are for the future –
One of my hopes is to get married to a Christian young lady and have a dozen or so kids (well, not me, my wife). Some of my goals consist of… having a comfortable home in the country with a good family, traveling some, having a home-based business, and maybe becoming an evangelist or preacher.

In closing, I have shared –
My fantastic history
Who I am today
What my various goals and dreams are for the future (if God wills it)

As it says in Rom. 11:36, “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.”

Have a great day!

Camping, tennis, school, and maybe more...

Yeah, lots of things have been happening lately. As you can see on my sisters blog http://myladydestiny.blogspot.com/2007/09/adventure-of-kruses-camping-trip.html we went camping which was very enjoyable although it was a bit chilly most of the time. Well... all the time! And... hmm. Oh yes, tennis has been fun these past few days. Ya see, I play out on the asphalt (which is right outside the house) with my younger siblings and we have such a grand time! Devin and me really get into it and sometimes lose the ball by hitting it so hard that when it comes back to Earth it usually dives into a bush or a tree. In fact, today I hit one ball in the gutter which goes around the roof of the house! And no, I did not try whatsoever to get that fuzzy green ball!

School has been goin' pretty good too! Actually, to be more accurate, it has been going wonderful although I haven't been getting that much sleep recently (It's my fault for staying up posting this late too as a matter of fact). I've been learning about ancient civilization and it has been quite interesting! Bottom Line: It's All Good!

Since I've been going on and on about school maybe I'll just tell ya that I did another section of Mr. Pudewa's writing class today too (group C). I'll post my story later if you really want me to. Until then, good night to you all! God Bless.

Jonathan in the Tree

Jonathan climbed this gigantic oak tree that was over 9 Feet Tall!
(Well, maybe not 9 ft, perhaps 7 1/2 ft and not an oak, or is it)?
But anyhow it's okay, he was only on a branch that was a couple ft off of the ground.
It just looks high up! :D

Boredom...

Ceaser?

Hunter.

Huh?

Haircuts!

Yes, you may have seen me on Tuesday and noticed my hair but whether you like it or not, for me it's much cooler (that is, now that it's cut I don't get so hot and then feel like a real hothead)!
Now I feel Free!

These were taken 4 days apart (#1 on Sunday and #2 today).

After getting a haircut myself, I thought it only fair that I give my pet Winnie a cut as well. He looked pretty hot too (with all that grass).

Waiting...

What do ya think!
