"You've Got It Kid! You've Got It!"

Today I had an interesting talk with a man. He looked quite old in years. His life had been long and hard. He began to talk with me. As I listened, he imparted true wisdom. Here are some of the things he told me (he repeated things for clarity and greater emphasis):

"You've got it kid! You've got it! Don't let people tell you otherwise. I know you will do great things one day. Get a good education! Remember to get a really good education! Follow your dreams kid! Go for number one! You've got it!"

Keep in mind, I had never met this man. He just began talking to me after my dad introduced me and I just listened. It sounded almost prophetic. It was as if God wanted this man to tell me this for a reason. Later as we headed home, I pondered over what he had said. He had told me what he had done at 17. I was astounded. He had bought his own car, was working two part-time jobs, and did a great many other things that I have yet to start. He said that his daughter worked at a place where kids were handicapped. I think that what he meant by, "You've got it," was that I didn't have a mental or physical problem. I don't have a family to take care of yet. I am free to learn all I want. I can be anything that God wants me to be. Nothing is holding me back. I have a choice to make something of my life; to use it to serve God and bring Him glory in all I do. Why wait until I am his age and regret the choices I have made?

He also advised me to not think about women just yet. Here's what he said, as I recall: "Listen kid. Don't be thinking about women. They'll fill up your mind and you won't think straight. Like when you can't see the sun because the clouds are in the way. Thinking about women will distract you from getting a good education. Start thinking about your future today. You can be anything you want to be! Just go for it!"

Now I think education is good. Don't get me wrong. But what he failed to mention even once was that we are here to glorify our Creator. Getting a good education is great so long as we are using it for the glory of God. (1 Cor. 10:31-33) And I also agree that thinking about women before I am ready for marriage will cloud my thinking. I need to be able to provide for a family before I think about looking for a wife and starting a family of my own. I trust that God will lead me. His plans are much greater than mine. I look forward to what he has in store for me.

New Template!

So what do you guys think about my new blogger template? It's seems just a tad more exciting than the previous one. I haven't had a change in about a year (or maybe even longer!). I like it.

Jr. Speech Tournament Again!

Tomorrow is the Jr. Speech Tournament for children who are 11 and under. It's going to be very fun. Older children from age 12-18 will be judging them. I'm sure the day will turn out just grand. I think this is our 4rth Jr. tournament. Each one gets better than the last. I hope to see some of you there. :)

Tuesday’s News

I had a piano lesson today and am very excited to continue practicing it. It is such a joy. My Grandma took me (well, drove me) there.

Next week my Great Aunt Ginger and Great Uncle John are coming up from AZ. They are such wonderful people. I can't wait to see them. Hopefully, we'll be able to play tennis with them sometime. Tennis is a very fun game to play; especially with my family. I expect we will do lots with them and have a really great time. I better keep you all updated with what's happening.

The other day, our family went to the Sleadd's house and played on their zip line. After that we walked around in their pool for a while. You see, they didn't have much water in it then. But now it's probably filled up pretty good and high. Pools are usually fairly nice in the summer.

Devin and me are currently working on the classic skit, "Who's On First," and will perform it in about a month from now. It's actually quite thrilling to practice it with Devin because he's so funny. In any case, after we perform it, I want to put it on this blog. So be sure to remind me later.

Good Morning...or...Good Evening?

It's 1:00 AM as I post this. I am going to sleep now. (Do I sound like Victoria E. or what?)

You probably don't care that I am very tired. It's my fault really. I should get up EARLY and go to bed EARLY. (If you know what mean)

So tomorrow I'll get up early and have a full day. After all, today is all that we have. We can't be sure of tomorrow and yesterday is behind us. Keep this in mind. Don't push stuff aside that you can accomplish today. We feel proud of ourselves and have more self esteem when we finish what we've started.

This past week, I have been faithfully reading my Bible every morning. It has been so good for me. I would encourage you to do the same.

Well I better hit the hay...Nighty-Night..

Happy Birthday Natalie. You're great at piano, cooking, speech, apologetics, debate?, being kind, and the list goes on... Thanks for being such a great friend to our family.

And Kolten Anderson! Happy Birthday buddy! There's the face we all know, right? He just brings happiness with him wherever he goes. Kolten, you are great at playing chess, playing the Hammer Dulcimer (like no one's business), hunting, fishing?, camping, paintball, ultimate Frisbee, football, basketball, your hilarious humor (your dad also affirms this), and lots more! I hope you have a great 15th birthday! LOVE YOU LOTS, and wishing you many more years of...um...LIFE. :)

My Love/Hate Relationship with Running

Today I ran four miles to Rays food store just down the road. Okay, so I didn't run ALL the way. I walked about half. After getting back, I thought I was pooped and just Couldn't POSSIBLY RUN ANYMORE...

.......apparently NOT!

Devin wanted to run as well. I was thinking quite Crazily.
I said, "Sure, why don't we just run out to the Goldman's house. (The Goldman's house from ours: about 5 MILES. But it was 5 miles there! We also had to run back.)

After we arrived at their house, I was exhausted! But I had to run back...

To cut a LONG STORY short, I hate running. But that's not all. I brought along my mother's iPod and it was so wonderful listening to great PRAISE MUSIC WHILE RUNNING.
I just gave glory to God while I was sweating and panting like a St. Bernard doggy. I also know that running is great exercise for the body. But it sure is hard. :)

There you have it. I now have a concrete love/hate relationship with running.

P.S. Running distance: About 14 MILES. I'M POOPED. BUT HAPPY I FINISHED IT.

Yes, it is true. That time of year has come. It is when we remember a man who had a large impact upon history. St. Patrick. The man who went to Ireland to preach the Gospel. He was truly a man of God. May we be more like him. Have a wonderful night. God Bless.

How I love the Incarnation

Recently, as many of you may know, I (along with some cousins of mine) have been reading On the Incarnation by St. Athanasius. It has been so refreshing. When I begin thinking about all that God did on our behalf so that we might no longer be under the dominion of death, but have life, I stand amazed. We don't deserve it at all. We spat in His face and yet He was laying down His life for us. The Word made flesh was paying the price for our sins (John 1:1).

I like it the way Athanasius puts it: "For by the sacrifice of His own body He did two things: He put an end to the law of death which barred our way; and He made a new beginning of life for us, by giving us the hope of resurrection. By man death has gained its power over men; by the Word made Man death has been destroyed and life raised up anew." Chapter II, pg.37

God paid the penalty. He let us live. And He conquered death with the cross. God is immortal and cannot die and this is why He put Himself into a human body which was capable of death. The Word of the Father, the Son of God, died so that we might live for all eternity.

It blows me away. I continually ask myself, "Why? Why God? Why do this for me?" My only answer is that He did it out of His love for us. May we forever praise Him. Thank God for the Incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Apologetics Box

Yeah, I switched from the big 4x6 box to the sleek and small (not to mention safe?) 3x5 box. I want to start writing and revising cards real soon.

And hey! I know it's a pink color...but really, who cares? It's what's inside the box that matters. Right? Okay.

This is my 200th post on David's Domain. I am so thrilled! I actually did it...200. Wow. To celebrate, I think I'll go eat some great food. I don't know. Got any ideas?

Jeb and me...I have longer hair

I was in a car wreck...

Yeah, I was in a car/truck wreck two days ago. I was in the truck though. Not the car. How am I? Well, I'm in a neck brace and have 101 stitches. Ha!!!

Just kidding...I'm fine. God is so good. No one was hurt. The man in the car is alright. His car?...No. Sort of messed up. Yeah.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the news. You'll have to ask me in person who the driver was.

Happy Birthday Abigail!

Yes, it is Abigail's birthday today (or is it tonight). Anyway, she's been pretty good these 6 YEARS. I've been blessed to have known her. And I wish her many more!

Emma and Me

In the hospital...

I'm here in the hospital just waiting. Uncle Troy and aunt Heather just got here. They brought their two youngest kids: Kaylee and Ethan. They are both so cute. I'll have to post a picture soon.

Some other people are here too. I am just waiting for the birth of the little one. We arrived here at about 3:30 pm. Thank you for all your prayers and support. We really appreciate it. I'll post some pictures soon.

Today is Emma's Birthday. Wow! She's twelve years old. My, time has flown. I'm so glad Emma's my sister. She is really fun to be with and...what's really special about this year, is that she now is old enough to compete in the NCFCA speech tournaments. In fact, I get to do a DUO with her actually so you can all cry about not getting to. Ha ha! I've been honored to be her brother all these years and hope I still will be, Lord willing, many years from now. Happy Birthday Emma Victoria Kruse!
